HEALTH Protect is an evidence-based research and policy initiative, comprised of a diverse array of researchers and policymakers hailing from esteemed institutions across Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico BACEM) and the United Kingdom (including the London School of Economics LSE and the University of East Anglia UEA). Supported by funding from MRC UKRI, our mission at HEALTH Protect is to rigorously assess the ramifications of escalating socioeconomic disparities in morbidity, mortality, and health inequalities within the BACEM region.
Our focus is on developing integrated models that combine consolidated economic based microsimulation (SOUTHMOD) with health microsimulation to assess the impact and cost effectiveness of economic interventions and poverty reduction policies on morbidity, mortality and inequalities in health at BACEM.
FRAMEWORK – HEALTH PROTECT

MAIN OBJECTIVE
To assess the impact of socioeconomic inequalities on morbidity, mortality, and health disparities in Latin American countries (BACEM), and
To develop the Health_Protect platform—an open-access tool designed to model and calibrate the most effective economic policies for reducing health inequalities in each country.
